Trend Alert: It’s Velvet Season!

Soft and cozy as it is, Velvet is famously known as a royal fabric. And it has made a come back on Indian as well as international platforms this season just like all other trends do, so if you fancy wearing something Velvet, the time is now!

The tricky thing about this fabric is that if not worn in a proper manner it will make you look gaudy. For a beginner, the tip is to start off with a minimalist approach. Try a velvet clutch or velvet shoe before you jump in a dress. And again, the colour is equally important. What might look great on fair skin might not look that great on darker tones. My dress here is again, made by me, the halter neck pattern is a little rare in my wardrobe but when put in this manner its pretty safe so no worries!

So start off a little safe with midnight blue, black, white or soft pink and preferably when the lights are not too hard. Understand that if you are going to a venue with bright lights, a bright red or green is going to flash out like my in these pictures. But I love red so, and if you are going to somewhere darker like a dance club, feel free try new colours, dare to experiment and then you’ll find out how fun it is because it feels as soft on the inside as it looks on the outside!

Here are some looks for your inspiration(I love them!):

Chiara Ferragni

Aishwariya Rai

Aimee Song

Sonam Kapoor

Have fun!
