The Chic Chick

You probably expect me to start with things like, ’Fashion means different things to different people, but my perception of it is blah blah blah….’ so let’s go with that!.

After two long days of brain storming we finally came up with the name; Actually, it took much longer because   we wanted something that would be easy to remember and I was too impatient to finally get started with this blog as well. And in case you’re not aware, it is pronounced as ‘She-ek Chick’ and not ‘Chic Chic’.

Back to the point, take any fashion blogger for an example, all of them have lavish lifestyles, expensive clothes and so many places to travel! No doubt most of them have worked really hard for it, but what about all those girls who don’t have that lifestyle, who can’t afford dresses worth five grand, who can’t travel as much as they would like to? Let me tell you, I am one of those girls. A not so typical Gujarati girl ( you’ll find out later on why) who comes from a middle class family, has a few select friends she cherishes, is a social butterfly anyway, is as loud as any other Gujarati and someone who has finally found the confidence to do something she dreamt of since she was so young that she does not even remember.

So basically I didn’t dream of starting a fashion blog, but I always wanted to talk about how playing dress up was so much fun! Forget fun, it does much more than that, wearing the right clothes gives you the confidence to step out there and conquer the world and having the confidence is half the battle won already! And for a lot of people who take it seriously, clothes are a way of expression.

People, friends actually and at times strangers too have appreciated my way of dressing up which was pretty much half the reason I decided to start this. The other half was (I don’t know what name to give it so let’s go with ‘thing’) so this thing, what it did was, it made me dislike all the clothes I saw when I went shopping and it made me take my mom’s old dupatta, cut it out and stitch it into a top. It was hand-stitched and it was two sizes too small but hey! Ever loved something that much? It’s like having your first child (I guess). So well yea, I loved it and had my mom buy a sewing machine and that is how it all started some five years ago. I have been designing and stitching my own clothes since then and we are going to feature some of them on the blog along with a lot of other stuff which you won’t have to wait too long to watch. And don’t be surprised if you see a certain item more than ones, those are some of my prized possessions! Or more like, we are experimenting with how to wear the same thing in different ways.

I keep saying ‘we’ because I am pleased to have some amazing people on this project with me who also love doing what they are doing, they also have this ‘thing’ that keeps them going no matter what. So if at all you are able to relate with me ( and even if you not, it’s cool, not such a big deal) all we need to have in common is the love for fashion. And we all hope to come up with something that will be as much fun for you as it is going to be for us!

And last but not the least, here is a sneak peak to what is Coming Soon!

I’ve been surfing on-line greater than three hours
today, but I by no means found any fascinating article like yours.
It is lovely price sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made
good content material as you probably did, the net will be much more helpful than ever before.
